Congrats

Here’s my card for this week’s Viva la Verve sketch. With all of the high school graduations on the calendar around here this week, I thought putting together a congratulatory card using the sketch would be appropriate.

Congrats card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Verve StampsI used the congratulations sentiment from Verve’s Treasured Words set on the focal image panel. It’s stamped in dark brown ink on the stitched oval panel. The brown’s super dark, but not as dark as black and works nicely with the card’s color scheme. I mixed and matched patterned papers from two different 6x6 paper pads for the panels on the cardfront. I used a busier one for the long panel underneath the sentiment and a simpler tone on tone dotted one to cover most of the cardfront. The dotted panel was machine stitched around the edges to match the stitching detail on the sentiment panel.

I dressed up the sentiment panel by tucking a fishtail flag strip underneath the right side and topping it with a sparkly gold star. A few copper stud embellishments along the right side of the card add a masculine feel to the design.

Materials Used:
Treasured Words stamp set (Verve Stamps); Memento Espresso Truffle ink (Tsukineko); Sahara Sand cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); gold paper (Target); Boy Crazy and Collectable “Notable” 6x6 paper pads (My Mind’s Eye); stitched star and stitched oval dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); Die-namics Fishtail Flag Layers Stax die (My Favorite Things); faux metal stud embellishments (Michaels); sewing machine; foam tape

  1. Nice card. Perfect for that male co-worker who has gotten a promotion. Love the detail - not over done, just right!
